Summer Theatre Academy

The Auburn Summer Youth Theatre was started by Miccie McNee and a group of parents as a branch from the then Cain Company Players who wanted to have a theatre group in Auburn where Auburn's youth could perform in the summer. The group was set up as a class taught by Bryan Marshall and Patricia Leftridge where students could learn the basics about theatre and earn elective school credit, culminating in a full Broadway musical production.

From 1997-1999 Summer Theatre group changed directors each year. In 2000 Auburn Summer Youth Theatre changed its name to Summer Theatre Academy and hired Josh Brown as Director. In 2002 McNee and Brown passed on the torch to Daniel Berlant and Patricia Leftridge.

The program continues to be open to all students within both the Placer Union High School Districts and the Auburn Union School District. The academy has grown from casts of 30 to cast of 70 to 80. STA is proud to be entering its 10th year of performing high quality musicals to the Auburn community.
